RTS provides full LSI MegaRAID emulation

Monday, May 31, 2010

RTS released full virtual LSI MegaRAID emulation from KVM hosts accessible to KVM guests. Providing a virtual LSI MegaRAID SAS 8708EM2 device allows unmodified guests operating systems (such as Windows or Linux) to transparently access local or remote RTS SAN LUNs via their standard LSI drivers. RTS achieved an unprecedented sustained 2200 MB/s throughput for such virtualized LSI devices (local VM to VM, no IOV required), thereby significantly increasing location-transparency and the elasticity of KVM based RTS SAN clouds.

QNAP storage appliances with RTS iSCSI storage software

Monday, February 1, 2010

QNAP is relaunching its lineup of storage appliances "powered by" RTS Unified SAN storage software, starting with the TS-659 Pro. RTS sets the QNAP TS-659 Pro apart from other IP SANs in performance and features, such as: QNAP

  • VMware Ready® certified iSCSI
  • Failover cluster support
  • Optimized protocol load balancing and failover
  • Flexible multi LUN management (advanced mapping and masking)
  • Secure IP SAN environment deployment
  • Thin provisioning
  • Virtual disk drive (network volume aggregation and scale-out)
  • Superior performance

"The reviewer was taken aback by the performance as well as by the sheer number of features the unit supports. The certification and compatibility for VMware's vSphere4 (ESX 4.0, under iSCSI) was a long time coming, but this really completes the QNAP's missing puzzle in term of its ambitious foray towards the enterprise market. [...] The QNAP TS-659 Pro performed consistently and without any flaws."

Schwäbisch-Hall uses RTS HA storage for 1,500 year city archive

Tuesday, November 8, 2009

The German city of Schwäbisch-Hall uses RTS IP storage for its highly available electronic city archive, which carefully preserves documents that are considerably older than a millenium. The RTS HA IP storage system is implemented with active/passive redundancy ("Network RAID1") over two distributed data centers. Open-source software is the only known technology that can ensure that an archive that has been built over more than a millenium will actually be available and accessible for another millenium...
